Context
The UK military required a structured feasibility investigation to explore the development and operational employment of medium‑range loitering munition technologies based on uncrewed drone systems. The objective was to understand operational need, integration challenges, and development priorities within a complex, multi‑service environment.

What We Did

  • Led and facilitated workshops with key stakeholders across Army, Navy, Marine, and industry communities to capture operational context and user needs

  • Conducted detailed operational analysis across current and future battlefield scenarios

  • Developed an operational architecture aligned to NATO Architecture Framework (NAF v4), defining roles, interactions, and system dependencies

  • Translated operational outcomes into top‑level needs (Tier 1 requirements) and a structured Concept of Operations (CONOPS)

  • Performed capability gap analysis by assessing current and emerging systems against defined operational needs

  • Identified priority areas for development, integration, and further investment

Outcome
The study provided the client with a clear, evidence‑based understanding of how battlefield drone and loitering munition technologies could be employed, where existing capabilities fell short, and what system, architectural, and developmental steps were required to progress toward operationally credible solutions. The outputs directly informed downstream concept development and future capability planning.
